Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I'm pretty sure it's only a recent craze and to be honest, considering the things I've seen on the internet...I do not buy that teenage boys and grown men like the actual show more than they do the.......weird stuff online.

Go on to Deviant Art, 4Chan anywhere like that and you'll see.

Also as for the super powers thing don't see how that's more of a boy thing, Powerpuff Girls made every effort to make boys seem horrible it was definitely a girls show.
Then there's stuff like Totally Spies.

There's quite a few girls cartoons where the females kick a***...MLP is the only one with a massive fanbase.

Also happens to have probably the most f***ed up as said "inappropriate" content.

Not sure inappropriate is the word for it really.

@Ginyu Yeah but dbz is actually aimed at teenage boys and older. Anyone who thinks its only for little kids hasn't seen the scenes where people's brains get literally punched out or their throats crushed

The target audience for my little pony is literally little girls. Not even teenagers
Shonen anime-manga are made for kids in elemtary school.
14 and under, which is over elementary school age.

I just don't get the Brony thing. I do my best to respect what other people like but I just can't behind the brony thing, I think its just too weird.

They'll never be able to fight considering they never leave their house.

I like the 80s show. That one was pretty hardcore, and nonsensically corny and fun as hell. Better than 80s Transformers IMO.
Then there was a 90s show called Tales, I believe. Aimed towards teens, and was pretty generic and liked the stereotypes of youngsters. A LOT.
Then there was G3, which stands for Generation 3. Just plots about problems being solved, nothing special. Then there were subgenerations, like G3.5 which was just G3 with the main cast as younger versions of themselves and then there was Newborn Cuties. That, my dear companions, was true horses*** and cancer.

The new show (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, or G4) tries really hard to be many things at once, and is just obnoxious and weird. It also likes to abuse Deus Ex Machina. The old cartoon had this too, but it wasn't the same plot-twisting device for every bad guy they encountered. Which talking about them, the villains sucked. Bronies say they have personalities, when they're just stereotypes. Bronies say they have original morals, which most have been said before Disney even started working in animation. Bronies say the animation is gorgeous, when it's lazy and too bright. Bronies say the songs are great, they come out of nowhere and are basically just filler. I feel like every episode of this show is "Les Miserables" all over again. Man, what an awful movie.

So yeah, bronies are usually people that don't like to reason a lot. Most are childish, immature, and have mental difficulties. But then again, you can say that about any fanbase, really, even DBZ. Bronies are overall just annoying. They're like the combination between Batman fanboys, Sonicunts, and Brolytards. THAT bad.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

The nostalgia filter is strong. 80's MLP was dark maybe 5% of the time. Other than that, it was pretty much just load upon load of fluff with meager story.

Really, the complaints you're making can be levelled at children's entertainment in general. The old show had that in force as well.

As for the last part, I find some hypocrisy there

I feel like the thing with Bronies falls less into "I like the show" and more into "Oh, this is trendy now" territory. That's as far as my thoughts on that one go.

Otherwise, I agree with Mitas. It's easy enough to sit back and say "Whoa, you like THAT? What's wrong with you?" But then you've got to be prepared to defend the things -you- like. Even something as widely (and increasingly) popular as video games is still criticized by some people as being "childish". But we like them regardless and will defend them to the death.
